Some quick concept art to characterize the world. This is the secret passage to the wizarding world and the school.
Closer look at the secret passage, which only becomes accessible when there is a blood moon.
On any other day it is just an abandoned old temple. The river/waterfall also stops flowing, as I thought the elements (water in this case) could be a sign of magic.

First graders have no house but once they graduate, they are assigned to one of three.
House Komainu, represented by the stone lion, are guardians. They specialize in offensive spells and dueling. It is the favorite house in the school.
House cho specializes in healing magic. All houses must serve a function to the outside world. The school was founded in times of muggle wars, making healing magic the oldest in the school.
House Kame is the least favorite of the three houses. They keep and study the history of magic and nature. They develop great academic minds, but no famous wizards.
Iterations on designs for members of House Komainu, based on samurais.
Cho and Kame uniforms. Cho's are white and red to make them easily noticeable. Their long sleeves hide potions and are decorated like the wings of butterflies.
House Kame students keep their first grade hats to remind them that all things grow.
